South Africa is recognised internationally as one of the most lightning-prone geographies on earth. Lightning would therefore feature prominently in any workplace risk assessment, necessitating demonstrated training, prevention, safety and emergency plans to mitigate the risk and avoid incidents.

The candidate achieving LIGHTNING AWARENESS CERTIFICATION will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of facts associated with lightning; identify, analyse and implement safe practices during lightning in and around the workplace; and explain the primary emergency life support procedure during lightning incidents.

The Programme consists of the following modules:

Module 1 - Understanding Lighting
Module 2 - Safe Outdoor Practices and Behaviour
Module 3 - First Aid for Lightning Victims
