GHG ISO 14064 Lead Verifier Training Course
Master greenhouse gas inventory, calculation, and verification to international standard.
Are you ready to become a confident, competent GHG professional? This comprehensive course equips environmental and sustainability practitioners with the technical mastery and critical-thinking skills needed to build, report, and assure greenhouse gas inventories in line with ISO 14064 and global best practice. Moving from foundational climate science through to advanced assurance and carbon-neutrality claims, it prepares you to lead climate disclosures, ensure compliance, and drive credible climate action within your organisation.
Through detailed lessons, hands-on calculation exercises, and real-world verification scenarios, you'll develop the depth and rigour required to step into ISO 14064 verification roles.
What you'll learn
- Understand the science and context of greenhouse gases and climate change
- Master the structure, scope, and terminology of the ISO 14064 standard
- Build, calculate, and report robust GHG inventories across Scopes 1, 2, and 3
- Apply professional verification and assurance techniques
- Critically review carbon-neutrality claims against ISO 14068 and PAS 2060
- Practise real-world calculations and verification engagements
How the course is structured
The course is organised into six progressive modules spanning 24 lessons, each building on the last from fundamentals to capstone application:
Module 1 — GHG Science & Standards. The fundamentals of climate science, greenhouse gases, and the international frameworks (ISO 14064, GHG Protocol) that shape GHG management.
Module 2 — Inventory Building & Calculation. Identifying, quantifying, and documenting emissions; activity data, emission factors, and quantification methods for building a robust inventory.
Module 3 — Reporting, Quality & Materiality. Preparing comprehensive GHG reports, assessing significance and materiality, and applying quality-control measures so your inventory withstands external scrutiny.
Module 4 — Verification & Assurance Practices. The principles and processes of GHG verification — planning and conducting engagements, evaluating evidence, managing team competence and impartiality, and drafting verification statements.
Module 5 — Carbon Neutrality & Advanced Topics. Carbon-neutrality claims, emerging standards, and the evolving climate-disclosure landscape, including ISO 14068 and PAS 2060.
Module 6 — Hands-On Case Studies & Capstone. Applying everything through real-world case studies and a capstone challenge that demonstrates your readiness as a GHG lead verifier.
Who it's for
Environmental and sustainability professionals, GHG inventory practitioners, internal and external verifiers, and anyone preparing for ISO 14064 verification responsibilities.
How you'll learn
Interactive lessons combine clear explanation with flashcards, scenario-based interactions, and knowledge checks throughout every lesson to reinforce learning. Practical calculation workshops and complex organisational case studies ensure you can apply the standard, not just recall it.
